Career Talk with Max
Can you still remember your job interview at Marc O’Polo?
Yes, I remember it well. At the time I had three interviews with different contact persons. They were all very challenging, but each one was conducted in a very professional manner and I was made to feel appreciated. Because of the different contact persons, each interview was approached from a different angle, and that helped me to get a good glimpse of how things work at Marc O’Polo.
Why did you choose Marc O’Polo as a company?
I chose Marc O’Polo because I was won over by the people. Marc O’Polo has a reputation for being a great employer, or a so-called “Employer of Choice”, not just locally but abroad as well. That’s why it was an easy decision to send off my application. When I was accepted, I knew right away that I was going to switch.
In a job interview, what makes a good – or bad – impression in your opinion?
I like when applicants are themselves. It’s always very obvious if someone is acting or putting on a persona. Personally I think it’s essential that there is a certain amount of trust and appreciation on both sides. Job interviews always involve an element of anxiety – and that is true for both parties. That’s why it’s important not to be overly formal, because it’s counterproductive in my opinion. Laughing is allowed as far as I’m concerned.
In which areas are you currently looking for applicants?
Our growth strategy is based on topics such as digitalisation, sustainability, the further development of our collection, and national and international expansion. For this reason we are looking to hire talented trainees in departments such as IT/Digital Intelligence, eCom, Design, Sustainability, and Retail and Wholesale. For those who are as yet undecided about their first steps into the world of work, we offer the “Digital Unicorn” and “Fashion Hero” trainee programmes which provide a comprehensive insight into the workings of various departments.
Why should prospective applicants choose your company?
We have been writing success stories for over 50 years and are one of the most successful international brands in the modern, premium, casual lifestyle segment. It is very important to us that our employees feel comfortable and have fun at work. This is the key to Marc O’Polo’s success. That’s why we nurture our employees’ dedication and passion for their jobs with an extensive range of advanced training options, a diverse sports and health programme, collective events and much more.
