SCANDINAVIAN SIMPLICITY ON SYLT: FIRST MARC O’POLO FRANCHISE STORE REFLECTING THE NEW STORE CONCEPT

Stephanskirchen / Westerland, Junly 8, 2021 – Together with long-time partner and fashion entrepreneur Michael Meyer, Marc O’Polo presents the first franchise store in the look and feel of the brand’s new store concept, THE SCANDINAVIAN STUDIO. With the opening in a prime location in Westerland on the German island of Sylt, the leading modern casual and sustainable lifestyle brand gains a coveted premium positioning and further expands its distribution.

With its typical Nordic architecture and light colour scheme, the Frisian house in seaside style on  Friedrichstrasse is the perfect location for what is currently the second Marc O’Polo store in the brand’s new look and feel. Scandinavian Simplicity. The new modernity of the brand, the deliberate straight lines and the luxurious spaciousness that THE SCANDINAVIAN STUDIO embodies complement the understated style of the two-story franchise store, which includes an inviting outdoor lounge, on over 200m². The Marc O’Polo collection, including shoes and accessories, is presented for women on the ground floor, for men on the upper. Each floor offers around 100m² of sales space.

The store concept, which was developed by leading brand and retail consultancy FITCH and implemented by shop-fitting experts Knoblauch, embodies the Marc O’Polo values of simplicity, naturalness, innovation, timelessness and Scandinavian design. Clean and contemporary. Linear shapes and timeless colours, in combination with select design elements, offer a spacious, high-quality interior with a luxury approach. Open display windows, long tables, product displays with flexible shelves, mirrors and racks in new 1.8m heights, and high-quality carpets present the collection. Hero panels with large-format LED screens, individually fed with campaign content from headquarters, inspire and convey innovation. The colour focus is on off-white, Marc O’Polo grey and black. Materials such as high-quality woods, steel and tinted glass bring modernity, naturalness and lightness. Design and function merge in the lighting concept on the ceiling and walls, which features the latest LED technology. The Coffee Concept table, with its discrete checkout and packing area, combines the pleasant with the useful.

The new store concept, which was launched in Pasing in March, is currently being rolled out in parallel with the expansion of the brand’s premium positioning and internationalisation. Further national and international store openings at strategically important locations will follow, and conversions of existing retail stores are underway. By the end of the year, Marc O’Polo, together with franchise and wholesale partners, will open to the public almost 90 stores (with around 5,500m²) in the SCANDINAVIAN STUDIO look and feel, along with international stores in various key city markets.
