After a successful transformation phase: Dr. Patric Spethmann hands over his responsibilities at Marc O’Polo at the end of the fiscal year.

After around seven successful years, Marc O’Polo is bidding farewell to its COO, Dr Patric Spethmann, who is leaving the company by mutual agreement and will step down from the Executive Board of Marc O’Polo SE at the end of the current fiscal year. His extraordinary commitment, strategic foresight and high level of expertise have played a decisive role in shaping the development of the Stephanskirchen-based company in recent years.

In 2019, Dr Spethmann took on the task of developing Marc O'Polo into a scalable, systemic organisation. As Chief Operating Officer, he was responsible for the digital transformation, which was largely shaped by the SAP transformation project and the realignment of logistics.

He succeeded in involving employees across departments, changing structures and establishing end-to-end processes, thus further developing the organisation's processes in a sustainable manner.

“We are very grateful to Patric for his commitment and expertise during a crucial phase for the company,” says Maximilian Böck, CEO of Marc O'Polo SE. 'His work has laid the foundation for us to further expand our digital activities.'

The Supervisory Board also recognises his achievements. 'In 2019, we recruited Dr Patric Spethmann as COO. He has extensive expertise in logistics and IT, which he has put at the service of the company. Under his leadership, Marc O'Polo's infrastructure and processes have been significantly enhanced.

We would like to thank him and everyone involved for their hard work, especially on the successful SAP transformation. This was an enormous undertaking, which he and the Marc O’Polo teams completed with great dedication. We very much regret Dr Patric Spethmann's departure and wish him all the best for the future,' said Werner Böck, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Marc O'Polo SE.

Dr Patric Spethmann himself reflects on his time at Marc O'Polo: "A transformation program involving many projects must eventually be completed, and the company should find itself in a much better position afterwards than at the outset. That is the task. After around seven years, this is now the case. What means the most to me is having built a great team that will successfully continue the journey.”

By deciding not to fill the position of Chief Operating Officer, Marc O'Polo is emphasising the strength and independence that the organisation has grown to achieve.

The IT department will now be headed by CFO/CHRO Markus Staude-Skowronek, and CSO Dr Dirk Schneider will take responsibility for logistics.

Marc O’Polo wishes Dr Patric Spethmann all the best for his future, both professionally and personally, and every success and continued passion for new challenges.
