Stephanskirchen, July 2019 – With its Fall/Winter 2019 collection, Marc O’Polo is switching the majority of its cotton qualities in the knitwear and jersey product groups to organic cotton and launching its new Modern Organic Product labeling. In the Spring/Summer 2020 collection, the range will be significantly expanded.
Founded in 1967, MARC O’POLO insisted on using only nature’s materials at a time when the fashion world was focused on synthetic fibres. For more than 50 years, the Premium Modern Casual brand has consistently lived up to its values of naturalness, simplicity and innovation, not least as one of the first brands to introduce organic cotton, 12 years ago.
»The use of natural materials has always been at the heart of the MARC O’POLO brand. With the decision to expand Modern Organic Products significantly across a range of product groups, we want to promote our sustainable actions even further,” says Susanne Schwenger, CPO of MARC O’POLO. “We are pleased that this step has been very well received by our partners. We have almost tripled our production volume of organic cotton pieces by the end of the FW19 order season when compared with the previous Fall/Winter season.«
The current collection comprises 70 organic cotton styles—38 for women and 32 for men. Airy jersey and casual knitwear, sometimes robust, sometimes soft. The organic cotton initiative will be further expanded for Spring/Summer 2020. In the main MARC O’POLO Casual collection, the range of Modern Organic Products will extend across several product groups, for a total of 90 styles. The successful iconic Logo Sweatshirt from the campaign with Anna Ewers and her sisters comes in a garment-dye variant in new shapes, with a cut-and-sew logo print. Also new are monochrome denim looks in a variety of sorbet shades. For men, organic cotton items include the Iconic Garment-Dyed Polo in a wide range of colours and, for the first time, casual chino styles, also in many trendy colours for summer. For its June 2020 delivery date, MARC O’POLO Men will work exclusively with organic cotton. Also new is the labeling for all Modern Organic Products. Clean. Scandinavian. With high recognition value.
The cotton fibres for the selected qualities come from controlled organic agriculture, for which strict cultivation and production guidelines apply. Among other measures, chemical pesticides, genetically modified seeds and synthetic fertilizers are dispensed with, optimizing soil quality and thereby reducing water consumption. The results have a positive impact on the environment as well as on both the health and the economic situation of farmers and farmer workers.
