MARC O'POLO ENTERS INTO PARTNERSHIP WITH CIRCULAR.FASHION

Marc O'Polo is deepening its commitment to the circular economy by collaborating with leading transformation agency circular.fashion. circular.fashion will advise Marc O'Polo on the further implementation of circular processes, and will ensure new products across collections comply with circular.fashion’s, ‘Circular Design Criteria’.

"As a premium brand, our aspiration must be to conserve natural resources and raw materials. Products must retain their value over their lifetime and then once again as raw materials. This is not only ecologically but also economically sustainable," says Susanne Schwenger CPO Marc O'Polo SE. "At the same time, recycling our products brings us closer to our goal of climate neutrality."

"At circular.fashion, we see an unstoppable momentum in the industry to build circular systems,” says Ina Budde, Managing Director of circular.fashion. “And we see a great need for clear instructions on how to design products that fit into the circular economy. We developed the Circular Design Criteria to create a common definition for the industry, and to set goals and measure progress. Marc O'Polo uses these holistic design guidelines as a driver for creativity and sustainable innovation, and we are assisting them with the implementation of recycling requirements and circular materials."

In the current order of the Fall/Winter 2023 collection, Marc O'Polo already offers a high number of products certified by circular.fashion., across all clothing divisions, for compliance with the Circular Design Criteria. This number will steadily increase over the coming years.

Marc O'Polo is pushing ahead with additional processes that enable circularity and product longevity. Over the past few weeks, the company has been testing a ‘fashion for rent’ model. The idea: share clothes instead of owning them. As a result, products are worn more frequently and valuable resources are used more sustainably. Longevity is also encouraged in the Marc O’Polo online shop, where customers can find a guide on how to correctly care for and repair clothing.
