Marc O’Polo has officially been certified as a B Corp™ by B Lab.

THAT SETS STANDARDS FOR RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY

As a certified B Corporation™ with about 2,200 employees, the globally active casual lifestyle brand Marc O’Polo is one of the few fashion companies of its size and structure worldwide to have received this demanding certification – thus setting a clear example within the European fashion industry.

The casual lifestyle brand is now part of the international B Corp™-community, a movement of companies that are leading a transformation of the global economic system and meeting high standards in the areas of environmental and social responsibility, transparency, and corporate governance. Marc O’Polo is thus committed to systematically aligning its economic decisions with their impact on the environment and society, far beyond individual sustainability initiatives.

“The renowned B Corp™ certification makes it clear and measurable that responsibility and economic success must be considered together. We see this certification as a clear signal—and as an invitation to our industry to think holistically about corporate responsibility,” says Maximilian Böck, CEO of Marc O'Polo.

The independent B Corp™ certification is considered one of the world's most demanding, holistic assessments of corporate responsibility. It examines the overall impact of a company, from governance and employee issues to responsibility in the value chain, environmental aspects, and customer relations. The requirements are considerably high – and that is precisely why they are so relevant to Marc O’Polo.

As a family-owned company, Marc O’Polo has been pursuing a long-term mission since 1967. We continue to expand our investments in durable products, responsibly-selected materials, humane working conditions, and partnership-based supply chains. “We have always remained true to our philosophy, never viewing ecological and social responsibility as a passing fad, but rather living by these values and making decisions based on them.” explains Supervisory Board Chairman Werner Böck. “

Marc O'Polo's corporate focus on responsibility is also reflected in its product development. “For our customers, this B Corp™ certification means trust above all else,” says Susanne Schwenger, CPO at Marc O'Polo. "They can rest assured that design, material selection, durability, and manufacturing processes are considered holistically. In all our decisions, we address often-overlooked social and environmental issues in order to have a positive impact on people, communities, and the planet."

For Marc O'Polo, certification is not the end, but a milestone in its long-term 2030+ sustainability strategy. The premium casual lifestyle brand sees B Corp™ certification as a benchmark against which decisions and developments are regularly reviewed—with the clear aim of continuing along this path and actively pursuing recertification according to the new EmpCo-compliant B Corp™ standard.

“We don't follow trends,” concludes Maximilian Böck. “We take responsibility—yesterday, today, and in the future.”
