MARC O'POLO BECOMES THE FIRST BRAND TO LAUNCH ORANGE FIBRE DENIM

With the current MARC O'POLO DENIM - CURATED BY LENA collection, Marc O'Polo is launching denim styles featuring Orange Fibre, a revolutionary cellulose fibre made from wood and citrus-juice production waste. This innovation is groundbreaking because no denim has ever previously been made with Orange Fibre. Marc O'Polo DENIM, the younger division of the premium casual lifestyle brand from Stephanskirchen, has succeeded in this new accomplishment with the expertise of a renowned Italian weaver.

“Marc O’Polo is driven by the search for ever more sustainable and innovative fibres. Our goal is to produce the most sustainable jeans possible. From the raw materials to the dyeing and washing processes,” says Susanne Schwenger, CPO Marc O'Polo SE. “Thanks to our expertise in sustainable materials, we were able to convince the Sicilian company Orange Fiber S.r.l. to work with us on this unique and innovative project. We have dedicated ourselves to it with passion and conviction for a year and a half and are delighted to be able to present this special capsule in our stores.”

The newly developed material is characterised by its exceptional softness and temperature adaptability. It originates from agricultural food waste, a more sustainable source of raw materials because it reduces the need for new raw materials. Thanks to a partnership with the Lenzing Group, the orange pulp is processed with wood to create the textile fibre Lyocell, which is at the heart of the next generation of man-made cellulose fibres: TENCEL™ Limited Edition x Orange Fibre.

How will customers recognise this innovation?

End-consumers will be able to identify garments containing this innovative yarn by means of special labels. The percentage of TENCEL™ Limited Edition x Orange Fibre in the denim is 11%, while another 11% is regular TENCEL™ Lyocell, and 78% is organic cotton.
