MATERIALS

Our materials combine natural and chemical fibres, which we are increasingly sourcing to industry-recognized standards for organic and recycled fibres, as well as standards that take into account responsible animal husbandry and soil management. In addition, we use more environmentally friendly regenerated cellulose fibers from brand manufacturers. In this way, we create high-quality products that meet our standards.

01 Natural fibers

WOOL & ANIMAL HAIR

Marc O'Polo uses certified wool, mohair, and alpaca fibres, whose supply chains are audited by independent third parties. The cashmere fibres we use are verified according to The Good Cashmere Standard® by AbTF and are produced with consideration for animal welfare, improved working conditions for goat farmers and employed workers of agricultural businesses, and with environmental protection in mind.

GOOD TO KNOW

With the Fall/Winter 2025 collection, we’ve reached our goal: from now on, we use only certified mulesing-free or certified recycled sheep’s wool. In addition, we have been exclusively using certified mohair in our products for several years.

DOWN & FEATHERS

Marc O'Polo uses only certified down and feathers or those sourced from certified recycled sources. The supply chains are audited by independent third parties. A certified Marc O'Polo down product is marked by an appropriate seal on the care label.

KNOWLEDGE

Recycled down and feathers are obtained through a careful process in which down and feathers are extracted from used products. These used materials are collected and cleaned and retain their high insulating properties even after reprocessing.

COTTON

Cotton from certified organic farming is grown in crop rotation without genetically modified seeds, synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, which protects the health of agricultural workers, soil quality and the environment.

KNOWLEDGE

Many of our products with organically produced cotton (Organic) are already certified according to international standards such as the Organic Contect Standard (OCS) or the Global Organic Standard (GOTS). A certified Marc O'Polo Organic product is identified by the GOTS seal or OCS seal on the care label.

CELLULOSIC REGENERATED FIBERS (VISCOSE/MODAL/LYOCELL)

Marc O'Polo uses regenerated cellulose fibers (viscose, lyocell, modal) from fiber manufacturers that achieve at least 80 percent of the possible maximum score (the "Green Shirt" status) in the Canopy Hot Button Ranking. An important evaluation criterion for Canopy is that the fiber manufacturers procure the wood from responsible forestry.

KNOWLEDGE

For these fiber types we work with products from the Austrian Lenzing AG, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ and TENCEL Lyocell / TENCEL Modal

POLYESTER/POLYAMIDE

Marc O'Polo uses recycled polyester fibers, which are mainly obtained from PET bottles. Post-consumer material (e.g. fishing nets, industrial waste) is used as a raw material for recycled polyamide fibers.

KNOWLEDGE

Many of our products with recycled material are already certified according to the Recycled Claim Standard. A certified Marc O'Polo Recycled product is identified by the RCS seal on the Care Label.

CUPRO

Cupro is a versatile regenerated cellulose fiber whose production is now very transparent as there is only one manufacturer in Japan. In closed loop systems, the chemicals used to produce the fiber are extracted and completely reused.

KNOWLEDGE

Cupro is produced on the basis of cotton linters. Cotton linters are a waste product of cotton oil production.
