Art & Culture The intersection between fashion, art, design and architecture and their mutual influences are key for new inspiration. MARC O’POLO has always had a strong connection to photography and can look back on numerous design cooperations with internationally-renowned artists. At its headquarters in Stephanskirchen, MARC O’POLO has built up a collection of sculptures and paintings by contemporary artists. Despite MARC O’POLO’s focus on international expansion, local engagement goes hand in hand with the company’s key values and culture. Exciting cooperations, sponsored projects, social engagement and our own projects are firmly integrated into the company. Cooperations Jeff Bridges x MARC O’POLO, 2014 & 2015 In Spring/Summer 2014, MARC O’POLO presented a limited edition charity Men’s T-shirt and sweatshirt collection with designs by Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges. The collection’s proceeds benefitted a charity supporting ‘The Institute of Compassionate Awareness’ (T.I.C.A.), an organization which promotes mindfulness education for young people with attention deficit disorder. Jeff Bridges has supported the organization for many years and their work is a matter very close to his heart. Following the huge success of the first season, a further cooperation for Spring/Summer 2015 was presented, this time in the Menswear, Womenswear and Junior collections. André Saraiva x MARC O’POLO, 2014 For Fall/Winter 2014, MARC O’POLO teamed up with world-famous graffiti artist and nightlife entrepreneur André Saraiva, whose cartoon character Mr. A has adorned the streets of Paris since the late 1990s and who from there conquered the entire street art world. André Saraiva created exclusively for MARC O’POLO new and original illustrations featuring the feminine counterpart to his iconic Mr. A character: Miss A. From his illustrations, a collection of stylishly oversized T-shirts and hoodies in organic cotton was created. Garance Doré x MARC O’POLO, 2013 & 2014 For Fall/Winter 2013, MARC O’POLO joined forces with the internationally renowned fashion blogger and illustrator Garance Doré. A selection of the French style icon’s designs and handwritten statements adorned a high-quality collection of shirts and sweaters made of organic cotton. Due to its great success, the cooperation was continued in Spring/Summer 2014 with new designs and extended into the Shoes & Accessories collection. Sponsorings und Events FILMFEST MUNICH, Munich, 2015 MARC O’POLO was a partner of the 33rd FILMFEST MÜNCHEN (06.25.-07.04.2015). For the cooperation, the Premium Modern Casual brand sponsored the official FILMFEST bag for all accredited guests. Under the title “Yes!Yes!Yes! WARHOLMANIA IN MUNICH”, presented by Glenn O’Brien and Katja Eichinger, the cooperation between the Brandhorst Museum and FILMFEST MÜNCHEN presented a comprehensive homage to Warhol’s cinematic works. The casual canvas bags also featured attractive slogans from Andy Warhol – perfectly fitting the theme of the event. Bruno Senna x MARC O’POLO Partnership for first Formula E Grand Prix in Germany, 2015 For the first Formula E race series in Germany, Berlin, MARC O’POLO sponsored Bruno Senna. As a Formula E driver, he is currently part of one of the most exciting and innovative racing series, which perfectly suits MARC O’POLO’s naturalness. The racing series for formula automobiles with electric motors demonstrates the compatibility of motor sports and environmental protection – and also electrified MARC O’POLO. The nephew of the legendary three-time Formula 1 world champion Ayrton Senna perfectly embodies our “Follow Your Nature” philosophy. „A Piece of Art“ Flower Event with Thierry Boutemy, Brussels, 2014 During Art Brussels 2014, the celebrated floral artist Thierry Boutemy transformed the MARC O’POLO store in Brussels into a magnificent fairy tale world. Titled “A Piece of Art”, the project focused just as much on the installation as on the public demolition, during which customers had the chance to take individual, floral “pieces of art” home with them. photo::vienna, MAK, Wien, 2014 MARC O’POLO was a premium sponsor of the first photo::vienna exhibit at the Museum for Applied Art (MAK) in Vienna. The exhibition for contemporary Austrian photographs featured the work of 78 Austrian artists and included a preview in the Austrian embassy in Washington D.C. and an exclusive event series. As premium sponsor, MARC O’POLO initiated an artist talk for the official opening night and invited internationally renowned photographer Massimo Vitali and Mona Kuhn as well as Marketing Director Tom Wallmann and author Alex Marashian to the stage. Beckmans College of Design – Student Awards MARC O’POLO has been a shareholder of Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm for many years. Through our engagement with the college, we aim to encourage talented and creative students and do our part in supporting the young professionals of tomorrow. MARC O’POLO has now implemented three design competitions and awarded students for their projects. In 2014, MARC O’POLO, together with Republic of Fritz Hansen and Beckmans College of Design, presented the results of their joint art project: “Two Visions – One Nature. Nordic Aesthetics.”, a music video project in which students interpreted the corporate values of both companies, without showing any products of the companies. Follow Your Nature Projects The Follow Your Nature projects represent a series of adventures, meetings, events and experiments that bring the guiding philosophy of MARC O‘POLO to life. The protagonists are athletes, artists, pioneers or creatives, regardless of their level of prominence or popularity. Each project serves to make their dreams or visions a reality. MARC O’POLO supports them in the pursuit and implementation of their ideas and projects. WHEEL TO BRAZIL – A Follow Your Nature Projekt With his motorcycle to the World Cup in Rio, life artist and adventurer Stefan Gbureck set off on a journey that took him across Central America to raise money for a good cause. An online fan community followed his photos and impressions while helping to support his charity. MARC O’POLO was inspired by the idea, which fit perfectly with our corporate philosophy. Stefan’s journey was the first Follow Your Nature project to be featured on all channels. Visible Invisibles: Photography for a new start – An Art & Charity Project in collaboration with Massimo Vitali As part of a long tradition, MARC O’POLO supports a charitable cause every Christmas. MARC O’POLO’S long-term engagement with the (BMW) Art Advent Calendar was followed by a new project in cooperation with renowned photographer Massimo Vitali. Through the medium of photography, Vitali seeks to spread awareness of the plight faced by seemingly invisible refugees, stranded on the coasts of Italy, and to support them in their new beginnings. MARC O’POLO is supporting this project with our own contribution.
