Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship at MARC O’POLO headquarters

“Variety, responsibility and fun are part of each and every work day from the start. I very much like the openness, naturalness and informal interaction on a first-name terms throughout all levels of hierarchy. It makes collaborating very special.”

– Verena Kohl, Apprentice

At our headquarters in Stephanskirchen, near Munich, we offer further education with respect to seven different occupations requiring formal training. Your apprenticeship starts with a joint introduction week, the so-called intake. Here, you get to know all important contact persons and develop the internal training regulations together. In special workshops, you will also be introduced to the MARC O’POLO’s key values as well as to the issues appraisal interviews and feedback culture. An exciting team training completes the introduction week.

During the duration of the apprenticeship, apprentices from more advanced years will be at your side as mentors. Within the scope of your apprenticeship at MARC O’POLO headquarters, you will pass through all departments relevant to your occupation, thereby getting to know the entire process, from collection development to sales. You will gain insights into various tasks and be given your own field of responsibility. Skilled training officers accompany you as constant advisors during your activities in various departments. Targeted training courses and seminars complete the apprenticeship plan.

Apprentices and cooperative students are jointly in charge of a project defined and supported by the Executive Board once a year. This gives them the opportunity to demonstrate their personal skills to our management. In past years, projects have included assistance in a children’s hospital during the pre-Christmas period and the organization of a regional soccer tournament.

Events such as our summer party with fashion show or our Christmas party offer you the possibility to celebrate your successes with others.

Information for parents

For many young people, parents are important contact persons and advisors when choosing a career. This is why we want to inform you, as a parent, about apprenticeships at MARC O’POLO.

We hold the education and continual advancement of job starters very dear. In Germany, we offer young people qualifications for ten different occupations requiring formal training and five cooperative degree programs for positions in retail and wholesale. During their formation or studies, they get to know a range of tasks and participate in various training courses and events. Skilled training supervisors or officers are always at their side for help and advice.

Along with well-grounded professional education, we attach great importance to the personal development of young employees, in keeping with our key values of Naturalness, Personality, Quality, Simplicity and Innovation. On the note of sustainable business management, our most important aim is the successful uptake of our apprentices, trainees or cooperative degree students and their long-term commitment to the company. The proportion of young talents remaining in the company after their studies in recent years confirms this approach.

We offer parents whose child is passing through an apprenticeship, training or cooperative degree program at MARC O’POLO special events in which we inform them about the program and current or upcoming projects. These events are also an opportunity for them to exchange thoughts with our training supervisors and with each other.

If you want to meet us personally, we will be happy to welcome you at one of our trade fairs or send us a note to jobs@marc-o-polo.com.

Further Development Opportunities

The choice of degree courses and types of universities has never been as wide as today. Academic studies, however, are not the only option for a successful take-off into a professional career. The chances and development opportunities for junior employees who prefer hands-on training over an academic career are just as great.

Please click here to find reports of former MARC O’POLO apprentices about the advantages of a practical training and how they made their career.
